Australian research on unique antenatal class format

Complementary therapies for labour and birth study: a randomised controlled trial of antenatal integrative medicine for pain management in labor. This study focused on a similar approach to GentleBirth but without the hypnobirthing content.

Significant Reduction in Epidural Use: The study found that the integrative approach used in GentleBirth, combining methods like acupressure, visualization, and yoga, led to a major drop in epidural use (down to 23.9% from 68.7% in standard care). This shows GentleBirth’s potential to support women who want a less medicalized birth experience.

Lower Rates of C-Sections and Interventions: Participants in the GentleBirth approach experienced fewer C-sections and less need for labor interventions, which can lead to smoother and quicker recoveries.

Enhanced Birth Confidence and Pain Management: Women felt more in control and better equipped to handle labor pain, thanks to techniques that promote natural relaxation and effective partner support.

Positive Outcomes for Mother and Baby: By reducing intervention rates, the GentleBirth approach also led to a decrease in labor complications, which contributes to healthier outcomes for both mother and baby.
